Macauley Visits "World Chess News"
While on his way to cover the Corus chess tournament in Wijk aan Zee for Chess.FM, Macauley Peterson swung by Stockholm to pay World Chess News a visit. What is World Chess News? In a nutshell: five Swedish chess enthusiasts, all siblings, own their own chess show broadcast on Swedish television and across the Internet. Sisters Adriana, Antonia and Amelia Krzymowska (pictured), and brothers Alfred and Albert Krzymowski, created the idea and concept of the show over three years ago. Now, the produce episodes of "WCN", as it has come to be called, regularly, and have over 15,000 viewers on the Internet every day. In his latest Chess.FM blog entry, Macauley first interviews the five siblings--but then they turn around and interview him for their next show! WCN is normally broadcast in Swedish (with English subtitles), but thankfully an exception is made for Macauley on the WCN show.
"Hands Up" Winners Announced!
According to Jennifer Shahade, there were no less than three contestants in the World Chess Live "Hands Up for WCL!" competition on Chess Life Online. (We briefly considered putting up photographs of their hands and asking readers to write in their guesses as to who the three "mystery winners" were--but we decided that they were probably the only ones with both the smarts and the experience to correctly guess all three pictures of their own hands.) The winners were (in no particular order): former U12 World Champion FM Daniel Naroditsky, FM Michael Langer of Texas, and Brian G. Chan, an A-player from Maryland. The former two, both titled players, have undoubtedly had first-"hand" experience (pardon the pun) with many, or even all, of those featured in the competition, but what makes Brian Chan's 100% score even more astounding is that he even submitted his answers first ahead of the other two!
If you're curious and want to see the answers to the "Hands Up for WCL" competition, check them out in the Chess Life Online article.

Chess.FM Update
This Week: Daniel Lucas Appears on Chess Talk
Chess Life Editor and USCF Director of Publications Daniel Lucas appears this week on "Chess Talk" with IM John Watson. In the hour-long interview, Lucas talks about his chess experiences growing up, the critical moments in his life that pushed him towards a chess journalism career, his experiences editing the award-winning state magazine Georgia Chess, and much more. This edition of "Chess Talk" comes highly recommended for this wanting a rare glimpse into the mind of the intelligent man behind the USCF's publications department.
